Sin Fein TD calls for boycott of Shell

Sinn Fein TD Martin Ferris is calling on the people of Kerry to boycott Shell in support of the five men who were jailed for protesting against the construction of a gas pipline in County Mayo. Shell E&P Ireland is seeking to pump gas at high pressure from the Corrib gasfield along the pipe to an onshore refinery at Bellanaboy in Mayo as part of its €990m project. The company has expressed its determination to continue, despite protests outside its construction depot in Rossport. Deputy Ferris says a clear message must be sent to multinationals such as Shell who are eligible for major tax incentives at the expense of Irish people.
