Sexually transmitted diseases on the increase in Kerry

Sexually transmitted diseases are on the increase in Kerry according to the Health Service Executive. Last year almost 170 new cases were reported to the Tralee STD/GUM clinic at Kerry General Hospital. Among these were incidences of Hepatitis C, warts and Chlamydia. Over 400 people were treated at the clinic during 2004 some of whom were return patients. Dr Mary Horgan is consultant physician in infectious diseases.
