Sexton, Henderson And O’ Mahony Sit Out Ireland Training Today

SextonJohnny Sexton sat-out training with the Ireland squad today after picking up a “knock to his knee” during last Saturday’s win over Canada. The Ireland management say that the out-half’s fitness is “nothing to worry about” ahead of next weekend’s game against Romania – which is a match that Sexton is likely to be rested for anyway. Peter O’Mahony and Iain Henderson also sat out this morning’s training session at St. George’s Park, while Robbie Henshaw took part in the work-out but didn’t train in full and it’s uncertain at this point whether or not he’ll be risked for this weekend. In today’s opening match at the Rugby World Cup, five-try Scotland claimed a crushing 45-10 win over Japan in their Pool B clash at Kingsholm. Japan only trailed by 12 points to 7 at the break, but Scotland cut-loose after the restart. Two tries from centre Mark Bennett as well as further scores from John Hardie, Tommy Seymour and Finn Russell, helping Vern Cotter’s side to a crushing bonus-point victory.
