Search continues for Garda Station for Castleisland.

There’s still no sign of a new Garda station for Castleisland three years after an arson attack on the old building. The Office of Public Works is searching for a suitable location to house a new station. Radio Kerry News has learned that talks with a landowner in the town have broken down, but the Office of Public Works say they’re in discussions with somebody else.Gardai in Castleisland moved into temporary accommodation in 2001 after a fire damaged their station , three years on, they’re still there. The Office of Public Works has been looking for a site, but hasn’t had any luck so far. Negotiations which were at an advanced stage with one house owner have fallen through, so the search goes on. When the gardai didn’t have a station, they threatened to go on strike unless they were sorted out.
