Sean Kelly appointed to EU pesticides committee

A Kerry MEP has been appointed to a European Parliament committee on pesticides.

The committee has been set up following a heated debate over the use of pesticides including glyphosate which is the most frequently used herbicide in agriculture across the EU.

The group will examine procedures in place for authorising pesticides.

Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly has warned against political game-playing on the issue which he says needs a balanced approach.
