Sean Gallagher says a business background is an asset for any prospective president.
The presidential candidate says he hopes to change the Office of the President, to make it more dynamic and help to improve North-South relations.
He adds the role of president is unique, and there exists voluntary, ceremonial and guardianship aspects to the office.
Mr Gallagher is canvassing in Kerry today and tomorrow, and his due to visit the KDYS in Killarney at 5pm this evening.
He claims it’s important that any Irish president understands business.
Mr Gallagher says ongoing legal actions involving a company, of which he is CEO, is not a distraction in the presidential race.
He adds, if he gets elected president, he will divest his business interests.
