School in South Kerry pleads for parents to enrol children in order to keep doors open

A school in South Kerry has pleaded to parents to enrol their children in order to keep its doors open.

The 16 pupil, two-room national school in Lauragh risks losing two teachers should student numbers not increase.

The Irish Examiner reports that locals are calling on parents to send their children to the school.


In recent months, the area on the Beara peninsula has lost the local post office, its garda station and bar.
