Scheme to offer free retrofit to Kerry homes in poor condition

Kerry people, in receipt of certain benefits, will now be able to retrofit homes in particularly poor condition.

Minister Denis Naughten made the announcement under the Warmer Homes Scheme.

People who qualify for the fuel allowance, family income supplement or one parent family payment will be able to carry out a new deep retrofit, free of charge.

These deeper renovations will provide for solid wall insulation, mechanical ventilation systems and renewable heating solutions.

The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland is currently tendering for providers.

Independent Kerry TDs Michael and Danny Healy-Rae have welcomed the announcement.
