Scartaglen to establish Community Alert scheme following alleged attempted abduction

The Scartaglen community is to establish a Community Alert scheme following an alleged attempted abduction of a child in the area.

It’s being claimed two men with their faces covered, driving a black car approached an 11-year-old boy who was at the GAA grounds having a kick-around on Saturday afternoon.

A public meeting took place in the village last night and was attended by over 100 people.

It was organised to inform parents of the incident, to offer support to the family and to try and set up a community alert system to protect children in the locality in the future.

East Kerry Board representative Pat O’Brien praised the community for offering such support to the family following the alleged incident.
