On today's Saturday Supplement, Joe spoke about a new book ‘Skelligs Haul’ which is the remarkable record of the life of Kerry farmer-fisherman, writer and painter, Michael Kirby (1906–2005), contained in one generous gathering of his prose and poetry. It draws from an earlier trilogy of memoir and storytelling, Skelligside (1990), Skelligs Calling (2003) and Skelligs Sunset (2006), all published by the Lilliput Press and long out of print. Joe spoke to the outgoing Kerry County Council Writer in Residence about her time in Kerry. Joe also spoke to historian John Connors about an historic talk that is taking place to mark the centenary of an event that took place in Killarney which caused the British/Australian diplomatic relations to the brink of breakdown. In addition there is the monthly Kerry County Council ‘Creative Kingdom’.
