Saorview customers advised not to use amplifiers as solution to signal interference

Saorview customers are being advised not to use amplifiers as a solution to signal interference.

Saorview customers, particularly in Rathmore and Ballycomane, have had no signal recently particularly at night.

Saorview Brand Compliance and Business Development Manager Jim Higgins says transmissions can be affected by local geography and weather conditions.

He says the issue can also result from old caballing and aerials and says it is important to make sure connections are in good order.

Mr Higgins claims using amplifiers can often make the problem worse.

Customers who can’t get reliable TV signal via their aerial can avail of an alternative service Saorsat, a new satellite which delivers RTÉ and TG4 channels with no contract or monthly bills.
