Saint Patrick’s celebrations to be kicked off in Rathmore today

The first Saint Patrick’s Day parade in the country is due to take place in Kerry this lunchtime.
The Rathmore parade is in its ninth year and the theme of this year’s spectacle is Education; Past, Present and Future.
The Grand Marshall leading the parade at 1.30pm is Diarmuid McCarthy.
Diversions will be in place, with traffic from Killarney having to detour at Dennehy’s corner.
Traffic from Millstreet & Mallow will have to detour at Shinnagh cross and the Street will be closed during the parade and delays are to be expected.
The Frank Buckley Memorial Cup will be given to the best overall float with prizes also being given out for best vintage car and best dressed pet.
