Ryan Cup Win For IT Tralee Hurlers Follows Footballers’ Big Sigerson Cup Result

In third level hurling, IT Tralee have won their opening game in the Ryan Cup.

They breezed past Athlone IT by 3-15 to 0-03 in Tralee last night.

The next game will come in two weeks time against Queens University of Belfast.

N-U-I Galway, D-I-T, and I-T Carlow have all joined IT Tralee in round 3 of the Sigerson Cup.

Last year’s runners-up, NUIG edged Queen’s University last night on a 1-8 to 1-7 scoreline, and will next face Garda College.

14-man DIT still had too much for Athone I-T, running out comfortable 4-14 to 2-8 victors at Grangegorman to set up a meeting in round 3 with holders UCD.

While I-T Carlow will face U-L, after they saw off C-I-T by 16-points to 12.

In the earlier game yesterday afternoon, I-T Tralee trounced Sligo I-T 6-20 to 1-09, and it’s a trip to St. Mary’s next week for the Kerry side.

IT Tralee Coach Liam Brosnan says the trip up North will present a tougher test for his side.
