This year’s Roses are in Kildare for a special Ernest Shackleton-themed visit.
Before arriving in Tralee later this week, the 56 Roses will spend two days in Athy as part of a special trip organised by Kildare Fáilte.
The Kildare tour will commence today with a welcome reception before their Ernest Shackleton-themed outdoor adventure around the town, celebrating the county’s great explorer.
Tomorrow the Roses will stop off at Lullymore Heritage Park, Celbridge, the Kildare Round Tower, Solas Bhride, the K Club and Kildare Village.
They will take part in a range of activities including turf cutting, brown bread making and Sean Nós dancing.
The festival will run from August 17th to 21st in Tralee.
