Rose of Tralee Festival will not comment on reports of increased security for event

A spokesperson for the Rose of Tralee International Festival says the organisation won’t comment on reports that armed gardaí will patrol this year’s event.

Last year, a member of a fathers’ rights group staged a peaceful protest when he invaded the stage of the festival dome while the event was being televised.

The Irish Daily Star reports today in light of recent terror attacks abroad, armed detectives will be present at the festival in August.

John Drummey is a spokesperson for the Rose of Tralee International Festival.

He says organisers will not comment on security arrangements.
