Rose of Tralee organisers hope to bring funfair back to town centre

The Rose of Tralee organisers want to have the funfair back in the town centre for this year’s event. A plan to use The Town Park was dropped last summer when residents mounted a campaign against it. The views of the backers of the Rose of Tralee on the Funfair are contained in a document sent to businesses in the town. It says crowds who visited last August were dispersed because of the use of Fels point and this diminished the atmosphere.Managing Director Anthony O`Gara says it’s important to keep everybody in the town, but doesn’t nominate a location. He also refers to past difficulties with the festival and admits it was almost lost last year. Mr O`Gara says previous problems were not explained, something which may open old wounds, and promises to change the practice to entice the business community back. A business expansion scheme to raise 250,000 euro will be launched in the coming weeks.
