Nico Rosberg will start on pole for today’s Russian Grand Prix. He’ll share the front row with Mercedes team-mate and World Championship leader, Lewis Hamilton. It’s lights-out in Sochi at midday, Irish time. Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz has been passed fit to race. He crashed in qualifying yesterday and was taken to hospital. Dani Pedrosa has won the Japanese MotoGP. He came from sixth on the grid to claim the 50th win of his career. Championship leader Valentino Rossi finished second – which means he’s now 18 points ahead of next placed Jorge Lorenzo in the standings. British pair Cal Crutchlow and Bradley Smith finished sixth and seventh respectively.
