Update 8.15am

Gardaí in Kerry are appealing to motorists to take their time this morning.

Tralee Gardaí say there are dangerous driving conditions on the road from Castlemaine to Tralee.

The main roads around Killarney are said to be driveable, but the back roads are in a poor condition.

Kerry County Council say major routes were treated by council crews overnight.

They’re asking motorists not assume a road is treated and to proceed with care across the county this morning and over the next few days.

Bus Eireann services are operating as normal this morning except the Route 279 Killorglin/Tralee service – it will operate via Firies and Farranfore, and not the main route between Tralee and Castlemaine.

The following Bus Eireann school buses will NOT operate – Rathmore; the Knocknagoshel, Scartaglen, Kilsarcon, Currow to Castleisland route; the Lyreacrompane, Rathea, Mountcoal, Moyvane to Listowel service; and the service from KiIcummin to Killarney.

Local Link Kerry will be reviewing all bus services in consultation with bus operators this morning before 9 o’clock.

They’re asking intending passengers to keep in contact with their office as there will be some local diversions on door to door services due to road conditions, particularly on higher ground.
