Restaurants Association of Ireland calls for change in Government tax policy

The Restaurants’ Association of Ireland is calling on the government to reduce VAT to 11%.

The group, which is holding its annual conference in the Europe Hotel in Killarney, says one restaurant a week is closing down due to the rising cost of doing business.

The RAI is also calling for the introduction of tax incentives to allow restaurant owners to provide short term accommodation for staff, which it says is critical given the lack of housing in Ireland.
