Renewed proposal on location of funfair to be put before The Council

It now appears that an end is in sight to the controversy surrounding the location of the funfair for next month’s Rose of Tralee. A Town Council decision to use part of the Town Park for Birds Amusements led to a protest last week outside the town hall. A renewed proposal is now to be put before the Town Council next Monday. Members can expect a packed public gallery for the meeting, with The Save the Green Campaign already gearing up to attend in large numbers.Discussions on a location for Bird`s Amusements have been ongoing throughout this week with all sides appearing eager to reach a compromise in the light of public pressure. Yesterday afternoon the Festival of Kerry and Birds Amusements met with Tralee Town Council. It was agreed that a special meeting of the Town Council would be called for next Monday to discuss the location of Birds during the Rose Festival It was decided that a recommendation will be put before the meeting on an alternative location for the funfair. It’s understood that the Abbey Car Park and the car park beside Saint John`s Church are both being considered. However the difficulty with either possible location is the loss of parking.
