Record numbers tune in to watch Rose selection

A record 920,000 people tuned in to see Aoibhionn Ni Shuileabhain being crowned the 2005 Rose of Tralee on Tuesday night, between 11 and 11.15. Spokesperson for the Festival Ted Keane had predicted a viewership of one million. Overall on the second night it’s estimated that an audience of 852,000 tuned into the Rose of Tralee. Monday night’s programme also proved popular with 742,000 viewers or 49.4% of the irish viewing audience.
