Recipients of Eamon Kelly Bursary announced

Two Killarney actors have been announced as the recipients of this year’s Eamon Kelly Memorial Bursary. Kerry County Council's Killarney Municipal District  announced  the 2015 Eamon Kelly Memorial Bursary awards on Monday night, at the Killarney Chamber. The recipients were, Rory Ward, Killarney,and Margaret O'Sullivan, 1st left. Mayor of Killarney, John Joe Culloty was on hand to present the bursaries. Included in the picture were Brian Kelly and Bride Sugrue, family of the Late Eamon Kelly, Kate Kennelly, Arts Officer, Kerry County Council.Photo:Valerie O'Sullivan./NO REPRO FEE Rory Ward, a member of Killarney Musical Society, plans to use the bursary to develop his musical theatre skills. Fellow recipient of the bursary and drama teacher, Margaret O’Sullivan plans to use it towards training with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-on-Avon. The bursary honours the memory of Kerry actor and storyteller, Eamon Kelly, who passed away in 2001. The Glenflesk native was nominated for a Tony Award for his starring role in the Broadway production of Brian Friel’s ‘Philadelphia, Here I Come’. Mr Kelly’s sister, Brid Sugrue and nephew Brian attended the award ceremony which was presented by chairman of Killarney Municipal District, John Joe Culloty.
