Random checks carried out on waste carrying trucks

The County Council is warning householders in the county that they need to ensure that waste collectors are disposing of their waste legally. Officials from the environment section of The Council and The Gardai carried out random checks for permits on trucks carrying waste around the county yesterday. The Environmental Protection Agency has set up an enforcement body to monitor waste disposal activities. Michael O` Coillean is The Environmental Awareness Officer with Kerry County Council. He says they can link the illegally dumped waste to the house where it came from.
