Radio Kerry shortlisted in 4 categories in IMRO National Radio Awards

Radio Kerry has received 4 nominations for this year’s IMRO National Radio Awards.

The nominations reflect the station’s news, sport and music coverage as well as innovation.

The station’s been shortlisted in the Best News Story category – for the newsroom’s reporting of the garda apology for their handling of the investigation into the murder of a baby in Cahersiveen in 1984 and the launch of a new probe into the infant’s death.

Tim Moynihan, presenter of Terrace Talk and Radio Kerry GAA commentator, has been shortlisted in the category for Best Local/Regional Sports Broadcaster.

JJ O’Shea, presenter of The Global Village, has been nominated in the Specialist Music Broadcaster category.

Students of the Kerry ETB Radio Broadcasting and Digital Journalism course under the guidance of Radio Kerry Training Manager Eoghain Fitzgerald have also secured a nomination – their series titled ‘Be the Voice’ has been shortlisted in the Innovation category.

Radio Kerry’s sister station, Shannonside Northernsound, has also secured four nominations in the National IMRO Radio Awards.

The winners will be announced on Friday, October 5th.
