Punchestown Day 1 Preview

The Punchestown Festival gets underway today, with three Grade Ones on the seven-race card.

The Willie Mullins-trained Un de Sceaux is the odds-on favourite for the feature – the BoyleSports Champion Chase.

That one’s off at 5.30.

The Mullins-Gordon Elliott rivalry is to the fore in the Champion Novice Hurdle, for which Melon is a narrow favourite.

The first race at the County Kildare course goes to post at 3.40.

The Going at Punchestown is Good to Yielding and Good to Firm on the cross country.

Elsewhere, Yarmouth is Good to Firm with a 1.40 start.

Hexham is Good and away at 1.50

Ludlow is Good, good to firm in places and off at 2pm

Brighton is Good to firm, good in places with a 4.50 start

Wolverhampton is Standard with the opener at 6pm
