Proposal to develop Kerry cable car tourist attraction likely to examined next year

A proposal to develop a cable car tourist attraction in Kerry is likely to examined in detail next year.

That’s according to Kerry County Council, who was responding to a call from Cllr Michael Cahill for a progress report on his suggestion.

Kerry County Council says developing cable car tourist attraction is a medium-term objective in the Kerry County Tourism Strategy.

It states that the feasibility of providing universal/disabled access in a sustainable manner to one of Kerry’s mountain peaks outside Special Areas of Conservation and Special Protection Areas will be examined.

The local authority’s focus to date has been the implementation of 110 short term objectives in the tourism action plan.

They say it’s likely to be 2018 before the cable car objective receives detailed attention.
