Programme to repair fishery and aquaculture infrastructure in harbours to be drawn up

Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine An evaluation committee will be set up to consider a funding priority of works for the county’s piers, harbours and slips damaged by the recent storms. The committees evaluation will then be forwarded to the Department of Agriculture for further consideration. Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney says the Department’s 2014 Capital programme will be broadened in order to repair the damage along the county’s coastline. In addition to funding provided to Kerry County Council, the Department will also be repairing  the West Cove Navigational beacon in Kerry. Minister Coveney says that an estimated 100 projects across 9 counties including Kerry where significant damage has been sustained will be given priority.
