Redbull StormchaseA professional windsurfer has defended yesterday’s extreme water sports event which took place in Brandon Bay. Ten of world’s best wind surfers gathered on the Maharees to take on the storm force winds for the Red Bull Storm Chase. The worldwide contest seeks out storms beyond wind force 10, in which windsurfers compete for the Storm Chase crown. Despite the life threatening conditions in which the competitors surf in, Red Bull say there have been no incidents of death or serious injury. Klaas Voget is sports and athelte manager for the Red Bull Storm Chase and is a professional wind surfer himself.
