Housing primary care and HSE services together is the model that’s needed to reform the health service.
That’s according to Brian Gilroy, senior manager with Glencar Healthcare, which is developing a primary care centre in Centre Point in Tralee.
It acquired the building late last year and is currently fitting it out, with a view to the HSE moving in early next year.
Glencar Healthcare also hopes to start work before Christmas on the development of a 20,000 square foot primary care centre on a greenfield site at the old Listowel Convent.
Brian Gilroy says developing these kind of services in communities will divert people away from Emergency Departments, and therefore reduce the pressure on hospitals.
