A Presidential nomination hopeful says a French system could be adopted to progress the proposed south Kerry Greenway.

Gavin Duffy is visiting the county today attempting to get support from members of Kerry County Council for his bid for the Áras.

The Dragons’ Den star says everyone is in favour of a tourism project such as the south Kerry Greenway but believes Compulsory Purchase Order is the wrong way.


Last week, Kerry County Council published a 40-page CPO for the lands needed for the 32-kilometre route from Renard Point to Glenbeigh after negotiations over many years failed to secure agreement.

However, Gavin Duffy, who had part of his Co Meath farm acquired by CPO for a motorway, says there needs to be a national conversation about better compensation for landowners:
