An Post has announced that 12 Kerry post offices are to close.
They’re among 159 small rural offices nationwide to shut as part of An Post’s rationalisation plan.
An Post has today published the locations of 159 Post Offices where the serving postmaster has opted to retire under an agreement between An Post and the Irish Postmasters’ Union (IPU); 16 have already closed.
An Post has also announced the neighbouring offices where business will transfer to.
The 12 Kerry post offices to close are Asdee, Ballinskelligs, Ballylongford, Ballymacelligott, Banemore Cross, Currow, Duagh, Gneeveguilla, Kilflynn, Knocknagoshel, Mastergeehy, and Moyvane.
The nearest alternative post office to those closing, range from four to 12 kilometres away.
An Post says their remaining 960 Post Offices nationwide will benefit from enhanced services and products, new opening hours and an investment package aimed at improving services.
