Kerry County Council says it plans to develop Farranfore as a tourist service centre.
It was responding to a request to rezone land in the village from its current designation of hotel or tourism related uses to solely for residential use.
Kerry County Council says it plans to develop Farranfore as a tourist centre, and the development of a hotel at an appropriate location within the village would be desirable.
Councillor Maura Healy-Rae called on the council to provide for more residential units due to Farrranfore’s unique location in the centre of the county, along with existing transport links.
It recommends rezoning a parcel of land to M1, which permits the development of shops, offices, galleries, medical service centres-subject to planning permission being granted.
