Planning Permission sought for third hotel in Listowel

Listowel may be set for a third hotel in the New Year. Property Developer Michael F Barrett is looking for permission to develop a 95 bedroomed hotel. Mr Barrett already has outline permission for a 35 bedroomed hotel on the same site, which overlooks The Town Park. It`s also expected the owners of the former mart site are to submit their application at end of the month to build another hotel there. Mr Barrett is now looking for full planning permission to construct a 95 bedroomed hotel with a 20 metre swimming pool, 30 apartments and 320 car parking spaces. The proposed development will be situated in the centre of the family`s golf course in the town. The site over looks The Town Park and currently holds outline permission for a 35 bedroomed hotel. A decision is due on this application in the New Year. Meanwhile the owners of the mart site are expected to lodge their application for a hotel at the former mart site at the end of the month. If these applications get the green light it will mean three hotels for the North Kerry town including the long established Arms Hotel in The Town Square.
