Planning permission for two separate playgrounds in west Kerry appealed to An Bord Pleanála

Early Morning on PlaygroundPlanning permission for two separate playgrounds in west Kerry has been appealed to An Bord Pleanála. Kerry County Council separately granted planning permission for a playground on Tailor’s Row in Castlegregory, and at The Wood in Dingle. However each case has been referred to An Bord Pleanála. Castlegregory Community Council was granted planning permission by Kerry County Council to demolish a derelict house and construct a community playground and amenity area at Main Street, Tailors Row and Forge Road. A group of residents in Castlegregory have appealed Kerry County Council’s permission granting on a number of conditions. While it supports a new playground in the village in principle, the group believes the proposal to demolish two dwellings would have a negative impact on the streetscape and architectural heritage of the village. Meanwhile the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine has objected to a decision to grant planning permission for a playground in the Harbour car park in Dingle. The appeal has been made on the grounds that the proposed location is unsuitable due to its proximity to the industrial area of the fishing pier. The Department says it’s also concerned the proposed playground could obstruct the Harbour Masters view of the harbour slipway. A decision from An Bord Pleanála on each playground is due in May
