Planned asphalt plant in Kerry has been appealed

The planned construction of an asphalt plant in Kerry has been appealed.

Roadstone Ltd. is applying for permission to construct the plant at Ballyegan Quarry, Ballyegan, Castleisland.

The quarry, located 4km west of Castleisland on the Tralee road, has not been used since 2011.

Five parties have appealed the planning application to An Bord Pleanála by Roadstone Ltd., which plans to use recycled asphalt products to produce road surfacing materials.

The planning authority says a decision is due by February 2020.
