Phychiatric nurses call for extension of smoking ban

Psychiatric nurses in the county are looking for the smoking ban to be extended to cover mental health facilities. Branch secretary of the psychiatric nurses association Richard Clifford says second hand smoke is a major problem for his members particularly in Kerry General Hospital.The HSE had examined the possibility of building a smoking room but he says plans were shelved after they decided it was too costly. He says they cannot put a price on the health of staff and patients.
