The thought must have crossed Peter Fahey’s mind that days like the one he enjoyed at Cheltenham’s November meeting two seasons back with stable star Peregrine Run were confined to the memory bank alone after the gelding met with his fair share of bumps in the road since.

However, new dreams abound for the Monasterevin trainer after Peregrine run, under regular pilot Roger Loughran, came back to his old self to take the feature €50,000 2m4f handicap chase at Killarney off top weight, highlighting his Kerry National claims in the process.

This is how it happened

One of the classiest performances of the afternoon at Killarney came in the 2m4f Irish Examiner novice chase, with Denis Cullen’s The Last Marju landing his third success at the track under Denis O’Regan.

It was a comfortable display in the end, with The Last Marju going clear after taking the lead jumping the last.
