People across Kerry are being encouraged to become involved with the boards of organisations.
That’s according to Senan Turnbull of Irelands’ Governance Code Working Group, who’s also a board member of the Charities Regulator; he’ll be speaking at seminars organised by the Kerry Volunteer Centre.
The Fear Less Governance seminars for committee members take place tonight from 7.30 to 9.30 in the Brehon Hotel Killarney, and tomorrow from 11am to 1pm in Manor West Hotel Tralee.
Senan Turnbull says Ireland is weak when it comes to corporate governance, and this was evident during the banking crisis.
He says while things have improved, we need to take the fear out of governance and encourage more people to become involved as trustees or board members of community and voluntary groups.
