Pedestrians and cyclists urged to wear reflective clothing when travelling on Kerry roads

Pedestrians and cyclists are being urged to wear reflective clothing when travelling on Kerry roads.

Garda Inspector Mike Fleming made the appeal at the recent Joint Policing Committee meeting, while he was detailing the number of both serious injuries and road fatalities on Kerry roads so far this year.

Up to the end of October, there were eight fatalities on the county’s roads, which includes drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.

The number of serious injuries from traffic collisions reduced considerably, down 37% from the same time last year to 26.

However, Inspector Mike Fleming appealed for all pedestrians and cyclists to visit their local garda station to get a free reflective jacket, if they currently do not have one.
