Over three thousand dairy farmers in Kerry are facing a difficult number of months as milk prices tumble. Milk Prices paid to farmers have dropped by third according to the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association. Global issues including over supply, less demand in China and the Russian ban are among the factors to blame. However, the group is predicting that there may be a recovery towards the end of the year as demand increases as supplies fall. Chair of the ICMSA in Kerry Kevin Galvin says the effects of lower milk prices will affect the local economy: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/34520/medium/”]
