Over 1,000 Kerry calls to senior helpline

Over 1,000 calls were made from Kerry last year to a phone line service aiming to tackle loneliness among older people. Senior Help Line says there’s a growing demand for the listening service with isolation being the main reason people call. TelephoneEmigration and worries about family members abroad is also a reason people contact the line. The service says many calls are going unanswered as resources are stretched. Senior Help Line is available, for the price of a local call, 365 days a year from 10am-10pm.  Call 1850 440 444, all calls are handled in strict confidence
