OPW reaches confidential settlement with family of woman who died on Skellig Michael

The Office of Public Works has settled a legal action with the family of an American woman who died on Skellig Michael five years ago. Skellig Christine Spooner from Rochester in New York died when she fell while visiting the UNESCO World Heritage site on the 20th of September 2009. Since the accident, a safety rail has been erected on the island. In a statement to Radio Kerry News, the OPW confirmed that proceedings instituted by the Spooner family have been settled without prejudice and without any admission of liability. The statement added that the terms of settlement are confidential.
