The HSE says operations were cancelled on Monday in Cork University Hospital because of an increase in people attending the Emergency Department.
A listener called Ann contacted Radio Kerry to say her scheduled mastectomy was cancelled.
The HSE says the ED was extremely busy last week, which lead to increased admissions, so elective procedures scheduled to take place this Monday were deferred.
Ann, not her real name, says her operation was cancelled Sunday evening.
She says the fault doesn’t lie with the staff on the ground; it’s due to under resourcing.
