One fatality on Kerry mountains this year

Kerry Mountain Rescue official There was one fatality on Kerry mountains this year. The majority of call-outs for Kerry Mountain Rescue in the past 12 months were for walkers in trouble on McGillicuddy Reeks. Since last December the team was called out 33 times. The kind of injuries sustained varied from serious neck and back injuries or broken limbs to minor grazes and shock. Damien Courtney from Kerry Mountain Rescue says while the spell of fine weather in the summer meant more people taking to Kerry’s hills and mountains, it didn’t result in an increase in rescues: [audio_player src=”http://media.radiokerry.ie/mediamanager/embed/audio/16291/medium/”]
