O’Connor Confirmed As Kerry Under 21 Manager

Jack O’Connor is the new manager of the Kerry Under 21 football team. He was ratified last night by delegates at a County Committee meeting. O’Connor takes over from Darragh O’Shea. In the Educate.ie Under 14 County League Division 2 semi final Southern Gaels defeated Glenflesk 4-11 to 2-3 while Division 3 saw Ballymac overcome Moyvane 2-9 to 1-2. In the Glebe Kitchens Under 12s Division 1 winners were Listowel, by 3-9 to 2-6 against Cromane while in Division 3 Finuge-St Senans beat Glenflesk 4-15 to 1-3. Winners in Division 1 of the Kelliher’s Toyota Tralee Central Region Minor Football League were Milltown Castlemaine and Dingle. Milltown Castlemaine defeated Laune Rangers 6-10 to 9 points while Dingle got the better of Rahillys 3-15 to 2-10. In the only game that went ahead in Division 2 Na Gaeil overcame St.Pat’s 5-13 to 1-6. Ardfert conceded to Mitchels. Legion and Kenmare won in East Kerry Under 14 Football League Division 1. Kenmare beat Rathmore 4-10 to 3-10 while Legion won 5-8 to 3-10 against Crokes. In 2A Keel/listry won by 5-20 to 2-17 against Beaufort while Gneeveguilla defeated Glenflesk 6-15 to 2-9. 2B saw Kilcummin win 7-16 to 4-12 at Spa while Firies edged out Fossa 2-13 to 2-12. In Division 5 Kilgarvan/Tousist beat Cordal/Scart 3-6 to 1-9 while Currow overcame Firies B 7-14 to 6-8. The GAA community is in mourning today following the passing of legendary Tipperary hurler, Jimmy Doyle. The six-time All Ireland winner is widely acknowledged as one of hurling’s all-time greats. The Thurles Sarsfields clubman was included in both the Hurling Team of the Century in 1984 and the Hurling Team of the Millennium in 2000. Lixnaw’s Eoghan Stack and Caoimhe Spillane of Abbeydorney have won the Community Games long puck competitions. The pair will now represent Kerry at the National finals in August.
