O Donoghue is favourite to become E.U Commissioner

Minister for Sport and Tourism, John O Donohue, has emerged as favourite to be Ireland`s next E.U commissioner. Minister for Agriculture Joe Walsh was the person considered by many to be the person who would fill the position. Due to poor local election results in his Cork South-West constituency, a by-election would cost Fianna Fail a seat.Fianna Fail hold two of the three seats in Mr. Walsh`s constituency but it is felt Fine Gael will win back the seat lost in the last general election. Fianna Fail will have a better chance of holding Mr. O’Donoghues seat in South Kerry if he becomes Commissioner
