Nurses picketing outside Kerry healthcare facilities

In Kerry, the 24-hour strike is ongoing at all public hospitals, healthcare facilities, and community healthcare services.

Nurses will continue their picket until 4 o’clock this afternoon.

In University Hospital Kerry, with the exception of cancer surgery cases, all other planned in-patient and day case surgeries are cancelled, as are all out-patient appointments.

A number of areas, including cancer and maternity services, however, will continue to operate as normal.

The HSE is advising that patients only attend emergency services if absolutely essential.

These were some of the over sixty nurses who began their picket outside UHK at 8 o’clock this morning.
