The number of Roman Catholic marriage ceremonies each year in Kerry continues to fall.
According to the Central Statistics Office, just over 640 Catholic marriage ceremonies took place in 2017 in the county, representing a fall of 11% in one year.
Over the past ten years, the number of marriage ceremonies in the county has remained steady, with approximately 1,000 taking place each year.
While the majority of marriage ceremonies are Roman Catholic, the percentage is falling; in 2017, 640 Roman Catholic ceremonies took place, down from over 700 (712) in 2016 and nearly 730 (728) in 2015.
Since 2014, ceremonies conducted by both the Humanist Association of Ireland and the Spiritualist Association of Ireland have increased, with a total of 126 taking place last year in Kerry.
The number of civil ceremonies has remained steady, with between 150-200 taking place each year.
Various other denominations account for approximately of 3% of marriage ceremonies in the county.
