Number of patients on trolleys in UHK in September more than doubles in a year

The number of patients on trolleys in University Hospital Kerry for the month of September has more than doubled in a year.

That’s according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives’ Organisation, which says 282 patients spent time on a trolley awaiting admission last month.

That is an increase of 150% on the corresponding 2017 figure when 114 patients waited on trolleys.

Ten years ago, the figure stood at just 11.
