The number of assaults committed in Kerry continues to rise.
Figures revealed at the recent Joint Policing Committee meeting show that there were over 540 assaults committed in Kerry in 2018, up from 463 in 2017.
Members of the JPC were also shown a five-year analysis, which shows the number of assaults increased every year since 2014, when there were 383 assaults committed.
In terms of assaults causing harm, which are contained in the overall figures, there was an increase of over 15% in the past twelve months.
Superintendent of the Tralee Garda Division Dan Keane cited a number of reasons for the increase.
